JEWISH VENICE

For centuries, the ghetto of Venice has hosted Jewish communities with roots in both Europe and the Mediterranean area, developing its own multicultural society and cultural production.
Our tour begins with a historical overview over the forces that led to the creation of the Ghetto Nuovo, then proceeds through the alleyways of the Ghetto Nuovissimo, finally reaching the Ghetto Vecchio and its gate on the bustling Fondamenta di Cannaregio. Elements of historical architecture and urban planning, as well as information on the local kosher food tradition, will be provided during the 2-hour tour.

Notes: The Jewish synagogues are only accessible on a group tour led by the staff of the Jewish museum and starting at fixed hours.
